CV1 9ED - Little Heath

Little Heath is an area of Coventry, in the county of West Midlands, in England. Most of the Little Heath area is in the Longford ward of the city.

Little Heath mainly consists of the following residential streets: Gayer Street, Thomas Lane Street, Partridge Croft, Quilletts Close, part of Proffitt Avenue and most of Old Church Road. It also contains a former Courtaulds factory, which is currently being demolished, and Little Heath Industrial Estate. The Coventry Canal passes through the area. Little Heath is within walking distance of the Arena Park Tesco Superstore, and close to the Foleshill fire station. The Royal Hotel is situated on Old Church Road by the canal bridge and is the only public house in the area.

Most of the area's terraced properties were built around 1910u20131930, and Little Heath is served by a primary school of the same name. Also in the area is Good Shepherd Roman Catholic (RC) Primary School, which shares its sports field with Little Heath Primary School. The Catholic parish church for Good Shepherd Primary School is St. Elizabeth's RC Church in Edgwick. The Church of England (C of E) church for Little Heath is St Laurence's, which has a church hall also used for groups such as the Brownies and Girl Guides.

At the top end of Old Church Road there is another school - St Laurence's C of E Primary School, which was previously known as Foleshill C of E Primary school - which is not actually in modern-day Foleshill, but is so-named due to the historical placement of the Church within the estate of Foleshill, first mentioned in 1086, as an estate owned by Lady Godiva.

The canal towpath can be accessed from the Old Church Road canal bridge.

Shops in Proffitt Avenue include a betting shop, a Chinese takeaway, a beauty salon, a hairdresser and a newsagent." [1]

Situated in local authority Foleshill, Little Heath is classed as urban with city and town. Nearest towns are Coventry (2 miles away), Bedworth (3 miles away), Nuneaton (6 miles away), with the capital city, London being 89 miles away.

The West Midlands is a metropolitan county found in central England that was formed in 1974 from parts of Warwickshire, Worcestershire and Staffordshire and is made up of seven metropolitan boroughs: Walsall, Solihull, Sandwell, Dudley, the City of Wolverhampton, the City of Coventry and the City of Birmingham.

These cities offer plenty of excitement and the area has long had a reputation for industrial heritage, fantastic museums, new and exciting art galleries and a vibrant and entertaining nightlife.

In Dudley for example, there are attractions such as the Dudley Zoo or the Black Country Living Museum, and there is the Dudley Canal and Tunnel as well as the ruins of Dudley Castle and numerous beautiful churches (such as the Church of St. Edmund or the Church of St. James the Great).

There are beautiful churches to be found in Wolverhampton too, from St. Peter's Collegiate Church and St. Peter's Gardens to the Church of St. John.

Also worth a look are Wightwick Manor and Moseley Old Hall. However, the highlight of the West Midlands must surely be the city of Birmingham, a city that has cast off its reputation as an industrial, grim city and swapped manufacturing for culture, the arts and entertaining. This is a city of exquisite dining (particularly the curry) and fantastic nightlife, endless shopping and constant entertainment.

From the impressive National Exhibition Centre to the football at Villa Park, or from watching the cricket at Edgbaston, home of Warwickshire County Cricket Club, to shopping in the stunning Bull Ring Shopping Centre and the space-age Selfridges Store, (designed using a weird 'skin' of 15,000 spun aluminium discs), one thing Birmingham knows how to do is entertain.
